Words Work

The key to successful search engine optimization is having a solid list of keywords that your visitors use to find your website.    Once you compile a list of 25-30 keywords, you’ll want to use them as much as possible in all your website’s titles, tags and in the copy.  Using your keywords in a few different places on each page helps search engines find your site for that particular word or phrase.

When choosing your keywords, try to use niche words or phrases rather than general industry terms.  Instead of “lodging”, try pet-friendly hotel or plymouth, nh inn.  Using your location in the keywords helps with location-based searching, especially if you are a destination.

The rules of search engine optimization change every year, but one that that hasn’t changed in the last decade is to compile your keywords and use them as much as possible in all your pages, ads and listings.
